Once it's downloaded

Open it, then ask a question.

Open the installer
Windows may show a blue SmartScreen box, because the early-access installer is not code signed yet. Click “More info”, then “Run anyway”.
No admin rights are needed.
CLAIR picks an AI model that fits
On first run it checks your computer's memory and graphics, then chooses an AI model it can run well. The model downloads once: about 3 to 17 GB, depending on your computer.
Try a demo dataset while it downloads
A few sample spreadsheets are built in, so you can look around while the model downloads.
Sign in with your email
A 6-digit code arrives in your inbox. There is no password. After that, analysis runs on your computer without a connection; the free licence renews online at least every 14 days.

Open the .dmg and drag CLAIR into Applications
Double-click the downloaded file, then drag the CLAIR icon onto the Applications folder.
Open it the first time
macOS may say it cannot verify the developer, because early-access builds are not notarized yet. In Applications, right-click (or Control-click) CLAIR, choose Open, then Open again.
On newer macOS, if there is no Open button: System Settings, Privacy and Security, then “Open Anyway”.

Memory: 8 GB works. 16 GB or more gives faster, better answers.
AI model: Downloads once during setup: about 3 to 17 GB, depending on your computer. Some features (such as Predict) download an extra component pack the first time you use them.
Setup time: Depends on your connection and computer. On a slow or metered connection, plan for the model download.
Internet: Needed for setup and sign-in. Analysis then runs offline, but the free early-access licence renews online at least every 14 days; if it cannot, CLAIR opens your work read-only until it reconnects. Longer offline licences are available on request.
Account: Free during early access. Sign in with your email (a 6-digit code, no password).

To check your copy on Windows, open PowerShell in your Downloads folder and run:
